Shay Locomotive Castings and Drawings

1 ½" SCALE SHAY CASTINGS

CLASS "B" 2-TRUCK or CLASS "C" 3-TRUCK

The castings shown on the following pages are all the castings necessary to build a 3-cylinder, 2-truck Shay as shown above. This model is 56" long (63" with couplers), 14" wide, 21" high and weighs 310 pounds. It has been in service since 1976 and has pulled 9 cars with 27 passengers. Castings are also suitable for building a 3-truck, class "C" Shay.

Since complete erection drawings are not available, the castings are offered for those builders who desire to construct a Shay from scratch. Eighty-two drawings plus 3 pages of color pictures showing various parts of the locomotive are available which detail the machining of the castings and which detail the trucks, the 3 cylinder engine and the frame.

We are always willing to help our customers in any way we can, and we encourage them to contact us anytime they have questions regarding methods of machining castings or assembling parts.

Castings are made of iron except the eccentric straps and slide valves which are bronze.
